Bronze Statue - Don't Know much about it

I have this bronze statue that has been in our family for the last 80 yrs. My grandmother passed it down to her daughter then to me.
I know its bronze and pretty heavy, Feels about 15lbs. I think there is a crack at the ankle but not sure. It stands about 18 inches tall.
Anyone know what this is or have any info as to it's worth? Please excuse all the dust!

If there are no markings (initials or name) visible on it, they may be on the bottom. However, this may require removal of felt or other covering to find them and then glue the felt/covering back or replace. I did a little research but could not find another statue/sculpture like it but with more research, one may be found. It is probably best to contact someone with a Museum of Fine Art as they will likely know the subject and creator/artist.

Wow thank you so much everyone! The info is fantastic and explains everything. My grandmother was born in NYC in 1900. Looks like she purchased this in the Brooklyn shop mentioned.
Thanks again...
