9 foot Grandfather Clock, Help me identify

Hello,
I'm new to this forum and would appreciate any help you can give me. This clock belonged to a wonderful family and the parents have recently passed and the kids were hoping to learn about the clock that sat in their family room for decades. It is 9 feel tall, in pretty good shape aside from the dust that accumulated over the years (9 feet is difficult to dust). Have been trying to get info for them myself, but figure I'd see if there are any Grandfather clock aficionados out there who might make my search easier.

Welcome to the Treasure Net forums! I am sure that someone will be able to help you out. I for one, have never seen a 9 foot tall Grandfather Clock but from some research they were made and even taller ones made! Most likely, if you open the rear access to the movement of the clock itself, there will be information either on the movement or on the inside of the case. It could also be inside the front access door to the chimes. Once you have a Maker name or a name off of the movement, post it here and I am sure that someone will have some information about the Grandfather Clock! It has the appearance of a Herschede Grandfather Clock due to the face plate and dials or possibly a Monumental but in any case, I am sure that it is a very valuable Grandfather Clock.

or it could be a RJ Horner as he made some really tall detailed carved clocks,
does the plate on the dial say Tiffany agreed prob valuable

Welcome Aboard! You didn't list your state (or country) in your profile. So, you might consider jumping over to Sub-Forums: Select Your Area.... and selecting your state for information (i.e., clubs, hunts, finds, legends, maps, etc.) directly related to your state (or country). On that B U T FULL clock - you might look up "clock repair" in your area and take the pictures - clock repair specialists will be your best bet. Let us know what you find out.

from reading around some of the tall case clocks, were not signed, or label lost
more bad news, some of the TCC makers used dif movements from dif co. and
a few made their own movements like Herschede. so if you cant find a label ect.
you will have to find a clock repair that also specializes in TCC

Great Clock!!! That is too cool and looks to be very well made. Great carvings too! I've seen many but Have no Id. I'll do some digging in a few books, If I find any kind of ID I'll post the info. The carving or top pieces might help in figuring out what the maker is or date. The best way to start is like mentioned by other posters, a pic of movement from back or a name. There has to be a name or symbol somewhere. That's almost too nice not to have one. I'm no expert on long case clocks though......The oak leaves(late victorian? My memory is horrible) in the carving can help date time period. I believe that is an American case maker thing, Not positive on that though!

The above link gives some things to look for when opening to ID. Look for B&D... There is a very very good chance I'm headed in the wrong direction with this too! Just giving some Ideas!

I also believe there is a good chance it's musical, meaning has a type of music box up top. That's the purpose of the fabric on the top sides. It's like a speaker. If not it would be glass or solid wood. Just another guess....Unless that is solid and just looks cloth in the pic.
