Looks like a nice desk, but I can't tell anything for certain without better pics. Any markings under the desk or drawers? Does chair come with it?

I don't think it's an "antique". The Louis XV forms & designs were popular in the early 1970's. Based on the dovetailing of the drawer, I'd say that desk is from the 1970's time period.

Agree with Jon, especially after looking at the image of the legs, which were never jointed.

Even "style' Louis V stuff from 19th century is worth something, but looking at the shape of the wood in the drawers, this looks pretty modern. A desk for and chair for $400 is not bad these days,

For modern furniture it's about right. The dovetails are uniform which indicates they were machine cut. If it was a true antique, there would only be 2 dovetails and they would be much larger. Hard to tell from the pic's because of glare, but is the center of the desktop leather by any chance? In older desks the actual writing surface could have been , but not in all cases leather. Or is it inlay? It does look to be a quality desk but it's definitely not an antique.

ITSMINE pretty much nailed it. Looks like fairly nice modern oak though ( drawers do at least ). Don't buy it in hopes of it being worth a lot of money, it's likely worth roughly what they're asking. $300 would make it an attractive buy for me but 400 isn't unfair by any means.
