I went to a military and antique auction today, picked up a few interesting items.

Being in Australia im not sure about a couple of things, and thought you guys could bring me some knowledge.

Sorry about the photos, my camera is flat and im buggered if i know where i put the charger.

First item. A few fractional currency bank notes. Poor condition.

Some brothel tokens. Repros i think, although one looks old.

A barrel loading shotgun, great working condition. I need to get my loupe out and check some markings on it. Looks like W.M Boston.

Might be able to help with a couple of items. The fractional currency, the damaged notes might be worth $10 or $15 each. The better one maybe $40 to $50. The brothel tokens are all fantasy pieces with only novelty value. I can't help with the ring except to say that SS rings might be one of the most heavily faked items on earth. Even with hallmarks expert authentication is mandatory. Are yo sure the gun is a shotgun? Looks like a typical halfstock percussion rifle, they are usually worth $300 to $400 in halfway decent shape. Of course most of this is a best guess not being able to see the actual condition. Some interesting stuff there!

Thanks cutler.
Im happy with that for the notes.
I have been reading about the rings, and your right, crazy amount of fakes, and so hard to get an idea. There was a lot of fake/reproductions at the auction, and these were all listed with the word "style" in the description. This ring was an exception, so i took a chance, but sounds as though i would be extremely lucky if it was genuine.

I really dont know much about firearms at all, i was really hoping to score a flintlock pistol to add to my antique weapon collection but they were going for serious money. I soon got the bug, as there were some gorgeous old rifles, but again they were going way above my budget. Then this one come up, i won it for $475 aud,
It was listed as a "single barrel muzzle loading shotgun"
Because the Australian gun laws, only allow pre 1900 guns to non licensed buyers, i know its pre 1900, but thats about it.

I probably paid too much or at least the top end for the gun, but they dont come around very often in my parts, and adds nicley to my collection. The Mssus is not too happy though :)

Might be worth more in your part of the world. As they say, "better to ask forgiveness than permission".
