Hello all,
I obtained this today , along with a few other Nevada law enforcement badges. Does anyone have any idea if this U.S. Marshal Badge is real or a reproduction? I believe it is a repro- fake. Weight is appx. 34.4 grams. The back is stamped U.S. 642. This is appx. 2 3/4" inches in width x 2 3/4" inches in height. If it is real, it had to be made prior to 1941 & before there was a standard U.S. Marshal Badge design.

Any information would be highly appreciated. I am not trying to spam a listing, etc. TIA DSC07710.JPG DSC07711.JPG

"Badges? We don't need no stinkin' badges!"

Sorry - couldn't resist. I am not an expert, but I'll guess it is a fantasy piece - like so many of those "Wells Fargo" belt buckles that were floating around a number of years ago.

Looks like a cross between a US Marshal's badge and a Texas Ranger's badge. At least somebody spelled "Marshal" correctly.

If it were genuine, would it be legal for a non-US Marshal to own? I don't know.

Good luck to all,

It appears to be a nice unauthorized version.

Yours is missing the dots, the date in the center, rounded points outside the outer rim and so forth.

It's good enough to cause someone to believe it's real.

Here is another page for you. This is the official one for the US Marshal badges.

I think after doing some more research, that this is a decently made Langenbacker Badge from the 1990's. I need to find one of their Catalogs for future reference. I appreciated the replies & Subterranean who also helped me out with I.D'ing this. Jim W.
