That's it! That's the cartouche.

But, mine looks more like a no.7. The handle has no scrollwork, and has "W.B." or possibly "W.D" initials burnt in, obviously aftermarket. Looks like a six point crosscut. I was hoping it is pre 1917 when H. Disston became Disston & Sons. I tried to get photo into an album, and I got a picture of the saw on the album but no pictures inside? :dontknow:
