Hello, new here, now what is this.

Found this while hunting at Ft. Sill, OK. The picture looks like George Washington, and it has nothing on the back, Silver plated too I believe.

Hello, new here, now what is this.

Are those four corner pins retractable as in a watchband or are they fixed hinge pins?

Hello, new here, now what is this.

That is weird, take a look under "relic hunting" look at "U.S. President? Buckle".
Same exact buckle as yours. Were you guys hunting the same spot? Maybe he found one shoe buckle and you found the other one?
What are the odds on two of the same kinds of such a rare find being posted on the same site. Amazing! 8)

Hello, new here, now what is this.

WOW I just checked out the relic board, and sure enought it is the same kind of buckle or whatever it is. I guess it's not as rare as I had hoped. Although I must say that mine appears to be in better shape. NA NA NANANA. lol
Anyway thanks for the information, If I ever find out anything I will post it. Good luck all.

Hello, new here, now what is this.

Same piece alright, the only difference is that mine sat there on the relic forum a long time without responses. I guess this section gets noticed quicker.
I disagree that this piece dates from the late 1800's to early 1900, given the site it came from (never found anything newer than 1830)
Yes, the site I found it at is in Manitoba, Canada, which makes my piece more interesting NA NA NANANA!!
Who knows, maybe our 2 are the only ones that exist!!!! Worth lots of $$$$
    Nice find!
    Dave.
