Info on old lock

Found this old lock next to a old brick building built in the early 1800's.? It has an interesting star around the key hole.? When I dug it up it just looked like a hunk of rusty old metal.? It took a few hours to clean up to be able to recognize what it was.? Does anyone have any idea of the age or maker of such a lock.... Thank....Lance

Thanks Buckram, that helps a great deal. Didn't feel that it had much value in the condition that it was in, but I wanted to get some info on the manufacturer and the age which you have so graciously provided. Thank you very much...Lance
