Mystery item - who's up for a challenge? (new pictures added)

I found this along a stream that recently flooded during one of our recent rain events. The item is made from brass that appears to be nickel plated. The top portion looks like it could be in the shape of a beehive and then it tapers down to a hollow end that went onto wood (in fact there is still a piece of wood in the hole). My guess is that it is something that went onto a flag pole top (although the hole is only about 5/8" round). Or another possibility it it could have been part of a tap handle for beer? What do you all think? Anyone seen or found one of these before?

    Thanks for your help!

I agree it looks like a hive. My first thought is it was maybe some type of honey dipper.

The Ladies of the Maccabees used the beehive as a symbol of their organization. They were the women's part of the Knights of the Maccbees. I'm not saying this is from that organization but might be worth looking into. It might be an end of a small flag pole or something to do with them. Just a another avenue to look at.

I vote foot pedal. The checked pattern is for traction. Maybe from a barbers chair

I live in a state of rules where I am not permitted to live on my own country land because my home is not 130 MPH rated! I can only visit it from time to time and pay the fines.  I feel so safe with Big Government protecting me. In some states its illegal to collect rainwater.

My Odds are on Honey Dipper out of Deagleye

It would be awesome to dip that into a jar of runny honey and then dribble the honey all over your toast. Yummy.

Re: Mystery item - who's up for a challenge?

Well, it looks like there's a piece of wood still wedged in the hollow end. So, we know it goes on a rod or handle of some type. I'd guess an end piece to a curtain rod or the top cap to a flag staff. Monty

We know its not from a lamp, barbers chair, piano foot pedal or motorcycle peg because of the wood.
