    Silver tube thingy

Heres another item dug by Arkie the other day. Looks to be plated copper. Has the circular tangs around one end like it was clipped into a hole? It is open on both ends and has the long slit hole in one side. Any ideas?

Note the similarity to the details of this umbrella runner from an old patent application— not identical, but close enough to invite comparison.

Nice ID dozer dan! And good assist PBK.
That is most likely what this is. The slit on the side is where the little spring lock tab goes throught.
