"Clover" like item dug with other civil war Irish Relics

I found this small clover looking relic with some other relics, including the matchsafe with the clover on it. These were found along a creek that borders a cavalry camp. It looks a little like a suspender clip but the back, which fell apart in my hand, was just a small brass outline of the overall shape of the device. It looks alot like a pinback, there also seemed to be some cloth fibers between the back and the front when it fell apart like there was cloth in the area below the 4 circle things and the back held it together. If that makes sense??

Any ideas?? Anybody ever seen something like it??

First picture is the relic.. the second is everything I found.

    Thanks,

I don't know either, my closest guess would be a kepi emblem, however, MontanaJim or PBK will know, for sure! I'd say they just haven't viewed this thread yet, when they do, we'll more than likely find out what it is! Great find, no matter what! Great hunting and good luck!! Regards, Richard.

Heck, Seger, your guess is as good as anyone else's, and better than mine, because I believe you are right! Regards, Richard

Oooohhh! And so close to St. Patrick's Day too! I like the 4-leaf clover on the match case. They say that if you find a 4-leaf clover that something good is coming your way. And you did!

Can we see pictures of the back of the broken one? The way it broke it almost looks like it was hinged there.
