"Checkers" tag-what was it from? And bucking horse figure-Id help please

This little tag with the word "CHECKERS" on it was found by my grandpa in the 1980's when he was metal detecting. We always wondered what it was for? Its about 1" across and looks like its made of brass(?). It has a Pat. date of Mar 11-07(?) on the back next to the metal teeth. The little loops at the top swing back and forth.
Grandpa also found this cool little bucking bronc horse figure. It looks like it was mounted(see 2nd pic) on something and is made of brass.
Could this have been on a belt buckle? It measures 3" x 1 1/2".

Looks like a clip from a pair of braces...erm...suspenders. Or else the clip part of a pair of overalls where you connect the over-the-shoulder strap to the button.

The bronco - just cute. Have no idea though. Very stylized like a kids toy. Maybe came off a toy cowboy set of something or other.

Let me take a better picture and see if I can get the numbers to show up--give me a couple of minutes. Until then~~ I can see two pat. numbers one for Mar ?? 07 and one for Mar 7. 11----I think , they are really worn down.

That's close, bigcypresshunter! I'm just glad to know that its a suspender buckle. Grandpa thought it was a tag from a pouch of tobacco .
