Another Brass Thingy (on a ring) - Also Acorn-shaped (thingy)

    Hi Guys,
Dug up a few things in the 'Hexagram' field yesterday. Placing them in 'Todays Finds' shortly.
Couple of things I'm not sure about.
This brass thingy, on a ring - piece of leather still attached, 'Carpenter & Co. Birmingham' in small writing:

And this Acorn-shaped brass thingy - reminds me of the end of a light pull - or a small salt pot:

    Any ideas?
    Best wishes,
    David.

Acorn thing is most likely a lamp finial or at least a finial of some sort.

Could the 1st item be a sword hanger?

Hi Ben - just this one to solve now. Doesn't look like part of a lock - and there's the 'Birmingham' bit too. We have a 'Carpenter & Co' here in the UK who are solicitors and because of the bit of leather still attached thought it could be the end of a leather strap with clasp to hold documents together - Just been assured though that the family-run business never had a branch in Birmingham.
The small lip on the end is a perfect 90 deg angle:

    Hmmmm

I don't have a clue on that one! The lip doesn't look substantial enough to hang any weight on and there doesn't seem to be any fixing holes.

The loop on the hook is a piece of a suspender clip.

No, a suspender buckle as in furniture for keeping the pants up. The hearts on the piece are decoration commonly found on most suspender clips. Here is a display case I have of just suspender clips/buckles. All of them have an identical hook for the brass ring to be affixed to:

I can't find an exact match for yours, but here is a similar example in the U.S. patent records which shows the ring. There are hundreds of patents. Here's the link if you'd like to peruse them:

mmmmm, I think we may have a language barrier here - 'Pants' in the UK are the undergarment we wear under our trousers (well, some of us wear them)
What are 'pants' in furniture? Sorry mate.
    David.
