    artillery button found today...need help with ID please

    found this today at an old farm house in Michigan. just a hair bigger than a nickel is size. wonder if anyone could ID it as far as time period goes. thanks, Griff

    Looks like an " *** IMPERIAL STAND. *** [eagle above]" backmark. If so, it's likely Albert's #AY 60A, Militia Artillery, c. 1814-21.

    Very nice find You may already know, but 1812 activity took place in MI. I would research the area and see what you can find if you haven't looked into it yet. Good luck.

    With the exception of the Frenchtown (Monroe) massacre and mackinaw island, we didn't see much.

    was it found in one of those areas?
    that would be pretty cool, as I know frenchtown has been pounded over the last few years.
    negative, found in Jackson....aka...jerkwater. an old farmhouse built in mid 1800's
    thanks for the ID PBK... happy to have found my oldest military button
