Not exactly Spike, but if they are exactly a quarter of an inch thick each (?) which they seem close to being, then they would probably be mechanical spacers for either elevation or distance. For what use I have no idea

Piece 19 has small copper taps (one broke). The black round pieces in 20 appear to be plastic. Channel on top side of 20. Weight 0.4 and 0.6 oz.

You're right depending on what it is there could potentially be many more Remeasured and the 3/16" may indicate pica measurement?

Also if 19 and 20 connected different way the channel would be inside. Could it be some sort of fusible link?

Spike, anything you can tell us about the spot where they were found that might narrow down the possibilities? Out in the middle of nowhere? Near an old house? a new one? field? etc.?

    Re: 19/20?

It was found at an old farm house (estimated age 1880's). House still standing, but abandoned. Same place as the iron relics and the ramrod channel you ID'ed earlier today. Also found a valve stem from an old car.

Good idea.. That could explain the plastic parts..

There is only a photo of the bottoms? How about one of the tops too?

Only plastic on one piece (#20). Xylophone or clock/chime work a good suggestion

Could it be weights? Could be a print block arrangement, but then why the insulator?

It may be the same post you remember intimer (this one is from October).

If only these two pieces (19 & 20) I'm thinking fitting of sorts. If more than two pieces I'm leaning towards Crusaders suggestion of printing block device or scale weight device. I couldn't find an abacus that matched
