    Help with bullet I.D.

    Have had this for a few years, never thought much about it.
    Measures 7/16 in. diameter at center ring high point
    1 In. in length.
    Any help. or should I just toss it...

    Resembles a .45-70 or .50-70 and was an extremely popular mid 1860s round - still wildly popular today. While the military settled on the .45 caliber they both have been used extensively for hunting even today.

    It might be 130 years old - but even so it's fairly worthless I would think (unless you found it at Custer's battlefield).

    Maybe it's something different altogether. Hopefully Rando helps out.
