I have been MD'ing farm fields that use to have one room school houses in them, the past two week. I have been finding things that I have no clue what they are and so far you guy's have been a big help.
I found a new one today. It's about the size of a half dollar and on the back their is three spots that looks like it was spot welded to something. One one shield it has the name " Lorraine " and on the other it has the name " Alsace "
Re: I need some help ID'ing what I think is a button
Rando, thanks for the lil history lesson.
When I was in school " many, many years ago " I didn't care much for history class, but since I have gotten in to MD'ing I have learned a lot about history and I wish I had paid a lil more attn. to it when I was in school.
Re: I need some help ID'ing what I think is a button
clearly its some sort of anti german "protest" medal showing german kaiser welhiem I (germany) as a whip toting brute enslaving the poor fair maidens ( the territories of alsace / lorraine) since the area was taken over in 1871 with the forming of germany as a nation --following the franco prussian war* and was later rejoined as part of france following WW1 --1919 -- the medal must be from that era . 1871 /1919
