Good point on scale and details Mike I'm leaning towards PBK's suggestion piece of picture frame.
I was able to unfold it and take more pictures. It seems like three of the four edges have not been cut or torn off, however one of the manufactured edge has a piece of metal sticking further out. The other corner seems to have broken off. Maybe this was part of a device to mount the artifact on. I hope this is making sense. I'll let you guys come up with your own theories.
