    Interesting Piece of Iron...

I dug this piece a few weeks ago and got around to cleaning it this weekend. It was pretty cruded up when I pulled it out of the ground. But, since it was nice and square shaped I put in my keeper pouch. The little detail work on it is what peaked my interest. Maybe some kind of cover plate for something.

    Any guesses?

    Thanks for looking.

I am not sure what it is but it looks interesting. It might be a old press stamp. or the detail on it you talk about could be where a handle was or something like that. good luck on IDing that.

I like that idea, the face of some kind of press, where the extention broke off at the weld. Maybe the face to some kind of vegetable press/grater, sausage stuffer, something along those lines which required a face to press the material into the machine?

I'm thinking it's some kind of old bracket for holding a rod of some sort. Not unlike what you would see holding a closet rod in place. Would like to see the back if possible. Also, are there any screw holes in it? I couldn't see any in pic but they might be corroded over.

Other side is blank. No holes or anything like that.
