Silver Ring Age and Stone Help

Managed to get out last night for a while with my new 8x6 coil on the Etrac. Went to a place that I have hammered in the past and managed to find this hunk-O-silver in and around a bunch of iron. This ring looks fairly old in its design, but the "Sterling" mark looks a little "newer".

This is a large ring, marked only with "STERLING". The stone color is kinda brownish amber with some transparancy to it. What kind of stone is this? And does anyone have a clue as to maybe the age of the ring based from the style and stone.

    Whaddaya think Breezie?

    Nice ring 72cheyenne

The stone may well be amber. Found this site with a ring setting kind of similar:

Yes, thanks IronSpike. I believe you are right about the amber. The ring style is very close also.

I think it's what's called a "catseye".......I would double check that. Nice ring either way!
