WOW! I?ll be hogtied again. I know one thing don?t mess with this forum. Here is the answer. WWII experimental ear plugs for USN. This is the case for them. Inside the case is a device to insert the plugs and store them. They were used on a Destroyer in the Pacific. Dad told me which one but I don?t remember the name. My father remembered that most sailors didn?t use them very often. I guess the destroyers were very loud in WWII. I believe it was in the 50?s that the military finally got serious about hearing loss. Thank you all for playing. This will be my last one. Some private e-mails were way too serious at times. All of you need to know that Treasure Net was not involved with these challenges or prizes. I only used them as a medium of communication. Thanks TN. If any one wants to do this for fun please do so. I am sure you could do a better job than I did. My intention was to kill time in the cold winter days and have fun. I hope you enjoyed them. Burdie
Congrats Ashleen. I will be contacting you.

Ashleen, CONGRADULATIONS! BURDIE, Thanks for the fun! I'm sorry to hear that things got ugly on your end. But the mystery did exactly what you wanted as far as I'm concerned... gave me a puzzle while winter findings were slow. I have to admit I played with the 1st picture in Photoshop (enlarging, sharpening, adjusting contrast) for an hour trying to read the writing on the tag. I actually had made out the word "ear", but I researched it and found nothing, and didn't want to waste my guess. Dang! Well, thanks again! I'll see if I can come up with one (let me know what type of e-mail abuse to expect ) -Ben

Congrats, Ashleen!! I thought they actually looked a little uncomfortable for that. ha!

Burdie, there's one (or more) in every crowd. I appreciate your puzzles and have enjoyed them, even though I'm incredibly clueless.

    Caveman, you go for it!

Marc, maybe we need a Puzzles site, just for the inventive and mentally active among us!

    Thanks, eveyone! It was fun
