    Any Idea??

I was out ridding the yard of old nails today when I came across a 45' Mercury dime and then this thing...
It's so small I couldn't get a clear picture. Appears to be brass. Any idea??

No hole in that end. It has a loop hole that only thread could pass through and a ring at the big end.
Picture a clock weight but the length of a dime. I will see if I can scan it.

    Re: Any Idea??

forwarded the photo to a friend of mine and heres what she said

" On ladies necklace or bracelets, there was a weight at the clasp that was either cylindrical or
flat with a hole in one end to attach it to the chain as a tiny handle to allow the lady to fasten the jewelry clasp or hook."

she has an extensive collection of late 1800 to mid 1900 clothing, jewelry etc.
    hope this helps HH

I'd have to go with searcher on this one.The wife has a collection of old jewelry,of course you say it appears to be brass,if so it could still be from an old piece of costume jewelry. Good Luck HH
