    Any Ideas? Machinery part?

We found this MD'ing on Ormond Beach in Florida after the 3rd Hurricane. It was extremely encrusted and was cleaned using electrolysis. Appears that the fourth section had been broken. The hole in the front does not appear to go all the way through, because the back seems to have been welded but Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated! Thank-you! Tammy

twoz12 - there are a number of machines that have devices that have this configuration. some are much larger than the one shown. there should be four of the slots. bolts go into the slots. sometimes the center has a rounded area in the center that is concave, sometimes the center looks like a hole that was not finished. similar types have a two or three hold down configuration. an old hand crank ice cream maker will have one of the two holddown configurations that did the holding down with wing nuts in the slots. some farm machinery at the end of rods so that the shaft can't pull out. in fact i have three of four of them on my john deere lawn mower. wayne
