    If its the size of a large cent you have a hard times token circa 1847. If the size of an indian cent it is a civil war token. If it lists a merchants name and town it is best. If not then it is called a patriotic token (basically generic but some of the heads/ tails combinations are valuable). Most civil war tokens were dated 1863 or earlier as they were outlawed to be made after 1863. Only a few exist dated 1864 or 1865. exanimo, ss
