    Brass Heart - Heel Plate

    Hello..I recently went out detecting and found what i thought was some random piece of brass with a heart stamped thru it...after i tried to research it , i noticed it brought be back to this site

    Ive read it over a couple times..but still dont have a handle on what it could be...I kinda believe the woman of the night theory, because i have found serveral Merry Widow condom Tins also

    If i missed somethign in the previous post or if someone might be able to date this?

    Any help will be great...Im using the same picture as the older post because my is Identical

    Personally I don't buy into the "ladies of the night" theory since they are also found with diamonds, spades, & clubs cutout but it does make a better story. Nice find.

    Yea..i sorta thought it was just a good story too...i just wish i could date it...for all i know there were millions of them being pumped out...to be honest..i dont even knwo what a heel plate is used for

    All I can speak for is the age of the sites I have seen them come from and they all have been 1860- type sites.They were to protect the heel from wear,as far as the characters,I dunno,there are many different types.I will say the Merry Widows dont fit the time frame though

    Ok..thanks for the reply..Im no expert on these type of things...In fact when i first found the Merry Widow thing i thought it was some kind of make-up case or something..i know the area i was at was developed right around 1911-1912..but the Park used to be someones farm land before that..well i guess most placese were

    Mid 1800s. They are also found with clubs, diamonds, spades, and star designs.
