fob or medal or what? found near civil war buttons{ Solved }

When it was dirty I thought it was a bent up suspender buckle but now its a brass whatzit.I can't even identify the design much less the purpose. Please help!

Its half of a womans buckle often called a sash or butterfly buckle.
(The two pieces together often resemble a butterfly)
