    Plumbing?

Digging and my detector goes off in the dime range. I start digging 2 inches, then 4, use pinpointer down in the hole and get pings but not close. Dig a little more and it starts humming. Find a light blue/green plastic looking band about 3-4 inches wide. Havent dug the whole thing yet but it looks like plumbing, not sure. It's a good 6 inches down. The band is going around in circle while inside the band is still dirt but the pinpointer is singing when I put it over the dirt. Looks like plumbing to me and I don't want to dig that up. Just wanted to get thoughts on if the group here thought it was most likely plumbing. I'm new to this.

    Re: Plumbing?

Most plumbing should be below the frost line unless you're in an area that stays warm year around. Can you lengthen the dig to follow the plumbing a ways? People sometimes use PVC pipe to hide caches in.

I'm in Georgia so the frost line isn't that deep. Maybe I'll go take a picture and post it before I dig further.

Yeah I was reading that green PVC is used for sewer...nice.

Must be metal banding around it.

    Re: Plumbing?

Years back when I landscaped, we were trenching an area and came across some underground cables that we ripped apart.

The cable company came out, did a repair splice and marked the splice with a large coil in event anything would go wrong with the splice, they could locate the spot with ease with a metal detector.

Not sure what it looked like but it was pretty shallow.

    I think...therefore I am.
