    Re: need help!

We need more pics. Is the entire item pictured? Step back and take a picture of the entire item to start with and something in the picture for size reference. We have no idea the shape of this thing. Also pic of bottom and a side view will help. Tell us the type of metal, if its metal. Describe any markings. http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.p...,259110.0.html

    Re: need help!

Kind of looks like an old marker for the land servery when the areas were laid out in the late 18th and early 19th Century's .
I'm not sure on this but I have found some before that looked close to this and that is what I was told that they were .

Most of them had a long pin that was attached that went into the ground or they had been set in a type of concrete . See if it had a pin attached or how it was found and if it was mounted to the ground !
The center cup was where the pole was put for the mark to be made for the shot line , these used to be all across the country but most have been taken up or lost and covered up .
Few things I love to do is , Metal Detecting for anything of the past!
Making Detectors better ! Tuning and finding ways to upgrade Detector hardware , To make them work the Best that is possable !

    Re: need help!

Is it metal? Hard to tell by the pic but is it a center of a hubcap, plate or ashtray? Is the total object round? Is the center piece 12" diameter or the total object? How thick is it? Is it in your hand or in the ground? Your half-pic has created more questions than answers.
