Re: Cant get an id on these coins
They are looking more and more like modern pot metal or aluminum fantasy tokens.

Re: Cant get an id on these coins
So I have determined where my son found the coin, it wasn't Arisia or an SCA event. It was at a LARP event in MA, he picked it off of the ground. That site definitely hosts other LARPS, as we've seen the occasional artifact from them around. I think that puts the mystery to rest.

Thank you! Case closed! I hope I dont find anymore fake coins! Got me all excited! Just like when I found pyrite, and seeing a gold coin in the ground turning out to be a chocolate coin wrapper! It cam get your heart pumping!

Re: Cant get an id on these coins
Hi there,
I am from Be-Epic, where the coins came from. I came across this thread because I was bored and googled my own name. (Thanks Charlie P)
I am sorry our contact link was actually routed to a defunct email. But the answer is yes, sadly, the coins are essentially play money for a Steampunk game we run. We designed them and ordered them from a company which makes fake coins for such purposes. Sorry to confuse you, we generally try to pick up our messes, but sometimes money falls out of pockets and things.

Re: Cant get an id on these coins
This person had quite a sense of humor when they said "we try to pick up our messes."
But thinking a little, maybe it was less tounge in cheek and more picking up messes, really, as in what is left around when we get done.
I am glad it is solved, I was going to suggest that it could have something to do with the Farmer's Grange thing we beat to death for a while. Except for the Italian part. Italian Grange? Just remembered, the spaghetti harvest is approaching fast.

Thanks for posting. Now we can green check this item as solved. Who knows, it may have some real monetary value in the future to a collector. Look at the prices of antique play money.
What company did you order it from?

Re: Cant get an id on these coins
Tokens Direct.
And yeah, the game we play stages huge mock combats, with "opponents" carrying these coins and other "loot" on them for the taking, and with all the props that go into it, there is a lot to pick up at the end. Nerf Bullets mostly.
Also, as an interesting note, the Queen'n ounce was a misprint on behalf of our coin makers, all coins made after that first run (we have since switched campsites) display the proper "Queen's Ounce", so the queen'n are a bit of a rare thing at this point.

We pretty much pegged it as fantasy but it was a tough one in the beginning. Are they aluminum? What other loot?

Re: Cant get an id on these coins
Wow! Absolutely correct and factual answer from the "Horse's Mouth". How much better can it get? Now if we can just apply this principle to the chicken coop egg counter, and all similar items like it, the world will be a much better place. Don't forget pignuts! Did our "guest" have anything to do with those?
