    Re: button id needed please

I live in a state of rules where I am not permitted to live on my own country land because my home is not 130 MPH rated! I can only visit it from time to time and pay the fines.  I feel so safe with Big Government protecting me. In some states its illegal to collect rainwater.

Specifically, it is a US Army button from 1902 or later. It is known as a Great Seal button, because it shows the Great Seal of the United States ...which wasn't adopted for use on US Army buttons until 1902. The backmark ("Scovill Mfg. Co./Waterbury") is an early one for Great Seal buttons, so your find is most likely from the World War One era

It looks like it may have been black instead of gilt. If so that would make it 1910-1923. 1902-1909 did not have the rim. They were black or gilt from 1910-1917 and black only from 1917-1923 and gilt thereafter. They are still in use. It's a nice find but not worth anything much.
