    Chair

This chair was passed down to me, As I recall, it was re - caned about 30 years ago
    Not sure about the finish
Came from new England ( Ma )
Do you think its Quaker , Amish or Shaker?
Its clearly hand made due to the imperfections.
I'm apprehensive about posting on this site as I've been spanked several times for posting a few items here
    Your thoughts?
    Thanks so much
    Brady

    Re: Chair

Sorry, B, I don't think so, but it's hard to judge furniture without seeing it in person. I can't see any score marks, or pegs. Are they present? The wood doesn't appear to be maple; what is the wood? How many inches from the seat to the floor? Is it 17 1/2 or less? Are the top vertical spindles flat on the back from rubbing on a wall? Are the 4 legs rubbed at an angle at the bottom where they touch the floor?

Several years ago I sold a beautiful true Shaker chair, and I have pictures on a CD somewhere. Give me some time, and I'll see if I can find those pics, then you will see the difference.

No matter, it's still a very nice Ladderback chair! Breezie

BTW, the seat bottom is called 'rush,' not cane.
Every time I watch Gone With The Wind, I think we're gonna win this time!

    Thanks Breez...
The back supports are uneven, in other words, they are not the same shape - each is hand made
if you look at the curves, they are not perfect, matching
    no pegs
the seat is 17.25 off the floor
    Not sure of the wood
