    Button with Crown?

    Hi all,
    Dug this yesterday, 19mm
    appears to have iron back...
usually the iron is gone from these, it looks like this is filled, rectangular shank is something I've also not seen.

    Has anyone seen similar?
    Any feedback is appreciated!

    Re: Button with Crown?

I had previously seen that particular emblem on a button, and my memory said it is a World War One era Imperial Germany army button. So I did some websearching, and found some examples. Same crown, with wide border encircling it, although your button's iron-back construction is different.

    Thank CBG!
Very similar indeed, I am about to green check this but none I can find have the lined background, it is so close, even to the cross atop the crown.
    Many examples here,

Indeed BCH, I recall questions about various Anchor buttons, and the link shows some of them too,
I'll see if I can find some of them
Although very close in design, I'm not comfortable greenchecking this.
all WWI Germans show stippled or plain backgrounds.
Found image of a British 'Unknown Military' that is somewhat similar, 3/4 down page on right.

Looks close with the lined background. Shows a twisted rope design though. I don't see that on steelheadwill's button.

    Great Work!
I have tried to find this site,
    Rope border worn off...
don't think so, doesn't look very worn, would show traces of it.
lots of things match up, # of lines above & below crown etc
Not currently available in this size, (30 ligne=19mm)
Have written Waterbury asking when they started making this button & if it was ever available in this size.
maybe a discontinued die pattern with the rope bordered one as a replacement.
    'Fashion Button' Oh Well
Green Check, pretty darn close, whatta you think?
    Thank You.

I was gonna mention the same thing, that since the waterbury button shown is modern and still available, that maybe yours is an older no longer produced die pattern of the same button from the same maker.

    Re: Button with Crown? Beefeater?

I suspected fashion button and I actually searched 30 pages of crown buttons on the Waterbury site lol but I missed it.
    http://www.waterburybutton.com/cart/...20&submit.y=13
Waterbury has been making buttons since 1812 and many of the designs offered are very old. Waterbury also seems to have bought out designs from many other companies over the years. I have found matching designs on that site that have different backmarks, made by other button companies.

Im leaning toward fashion although we have not found an exact match.

    Thanks BCH!
Several of the Waterbury designs are so close,
80032 seems a match other than that rope. (and available sizes)
I have not recieved a reply from my inquiry to them...
