    Interesting find ?

Is it a sash buckle or picture frame or both? I cant figure it out or the first hallmark? Notice the groove on the inside edge. It has no other attachment points. the patent date should help Id it. HH

    Re: Interesting find ?

If this were a buckle of some type, possibly with a piece missing, the patent may refer to a general buckle patent put out by R.A. Brown Patent # 807013 Dec 12, 1905
I see this patent being referred to often by other patents involving any sliding buckle mechanism.

    Re: Interesting find ?

Well I don't think it had a tongue on the cross bar as a conventional buckle as there is no wear on it. The curvature of it leads me to believe it is a buckle but the grove and the hallmark plate make it seam to be a frame. With the plate retaining the pic.? I'm not to bright with pat. searches. I just don't know. HH

    Re: Interesting find ?

I just found out the the hatchet wrapped with wheat belongs to Wm. B. Kerr & co. witch was absorbed by Gorham in 1927.
http://www.925-1000.com/americansilver__Icon.html. It is in the pictorial marks. If any one could search for a pat. that would be awesome. HH

The closest patent that I could find on that date was the one Snoopy posted.
Do you think it could be a wristwatch buckle?

BCH, I think it's to big for a watch I tried searching pat's for Gorham co. but not Wm. Kerr. something went in the slot and possibly retained by the hallmark plate nothing seams to be missing as far as attachments or pivots for a band. If leather from a belt went into the slot then I would expect to find a pin or the remnant of one on the under side.? Were you able to find the mark on the link? To me it looks the same.
