Colonial knife?
Let me start by saying sorry about the pics my good camera broke last week
Found this outside a colonial cellar and man it is thick solid brass with many layers of patina on it..
Can anyone date it?

Re: Colonial knife?
My Grand mother had a set just about like those, she said the her grandmother gave them to her as a wedding gift. her g.mother died in 64 at the age of 97. so the later part of the 19th century maybe. jmho

My wife's grandmother had a set of these that she got around the 1930s. Monty

My grandmother had a set, too. I still have them .... somewhere. Wouldn't cut soft butter, as I recall.

Re: Colonial knife?
In fact it was designed with cutting soft butter in mind. It wouldn't tear your bread. I used one just this morning that my wife's grandmother gave us. Monty

Re: Colonial knife?
Hey thanks everyone
Was the ones you used solid brass?
I mean,i find colonial buttons with less patina than this thing
I mainly hunt colonial cellars and this just seems really old to me
