Shipwreck Coastal Mystery Item

This was found along the treasure coast many years ago...it was found in Ft. Pierce. somewhere close to the power plant.
I am not sure of the type of metal, I don't want to scratch test it...but it is not magnetic.
It has some decent weight to it...what appears to be a crude hole drilled on one end...and the opposite end has an indent and slightly tapered, 5" long approx...
Some type of sowing tool?
I don't remember ever finding out what it is...anybody know?

If the indent is on the tip, I would say a sounding weight and the indent is for soft wax which tells if you are over sand, shell or solid rock. Usually they are larger at the bottom, but it could be real old, and they used that type then.

Maybe a marlin spike ? For splicing ropes .

I see the indent in the new pic, I guess you werent finished loading pics. It sure looks like it could be a net sewing/tying tool. Used to make or repair a fishing net-gill net, seine net, or cast net. Having worked as a net fisherman many years ago, I have seen these. They were plastic, but years ago I am sure they were metal.
