    Military button ID please

Hey everyone, sorry for the pictures. This button is smaller than a dime, probably a cuff button. I am trying to find out if it is WWI or WWII, or if there is any other information that might be relevant. Thanks!

There is really no way to narrow it down without a back on the button.

As you probably already know, your button is a US Army "Great Seal of the United States" button, a type which was first issued in 1902 and is still lin service today.

As Diggummup said, your US Army "Great Seal" button is missing its back, which would almost always have the manufacturer or supplier's business-name on it ...so, absence of the button's back usually means accurate time-dating is difficult or impossible.

However, Great Seal buttons were manufactured with a "black finish" on them from 1910 to 1923. Your backless button shows the "black finish" and therefore is from the 1910-1923 time period.

There was another thread that referred to the black finished ones being from the WWI period by fyrffytr1. Your familiar with it-

Is this referenced in a book or is there a link that tells this? I can't find it anywhere. Just wondering.

I got that reference from this book. There are 4 more pages of back marks.
