    ok got this last sunday and really have no idea has to what it si
    the field i got this out of has produced coins from the mid 1700 forward as well as some 1815 to 1830 ny buttons
    the metal seems to be like a pewter
    in the flared end there is an iron piece

    although odd shape ,
    looks like crotal (Sleigh) bell
    discriminate out Spike TV and American Diggers !

    Looks like it is possibly a Keyhole cover that would explain the rust (where it pivoted ?) John.
