Not an artillery Fuze but what?

I dug this lead piece .25" thick in a field where some CW artillery parts had been found. Obviously, it's not in the original shape. An old home had been there too. Cball guy says it's not a part of a CW fuze. Any guesses? Thanks, Quindy.

A couple of things it might be. Some artillary shells have sabots on them made of lead. It sort of looks like part of a sabot. Otherwise I would think it was a soldier made "pencil".

"Cball" guy is pretty darn knowledgeable. Unless someone can make an unchallengible ID I would have to go with him. Monty

Yea, bradyboy, that is when plumbers actually plumbed. And that is why they all had little "pigs" of lead. By the way, Plumbus is latin for "lead", hence the name. And for those really wanting to be in the know Pb is the periodic chart symbol. That is also why we have Au and Ag. -signed- Mr. Wizzard
