solved!
Hello everyone! I'm new to this website. My name is Kyle and I'm from East Texas. The other day I was out relic hunting and i came across this button/cufflink (not sure what it is). Not sure if the pictures will show what's on the button, but there is a very faint anchor with a rope around it. It's very worn down and it's small, right in the center of the button. It was found in East Texas where an old cabin used to stand in the mid 1800's, where I've also found a civil war buckle, which makes me think that this button/cufflink thing is also civil war era. Any insight as to what this is would be greatly appreciated.

Re: what type of button is this?
Well it's not a button. We call them grommets, brads, etc. They were used on leather nap sacks, saddlery, etc. That by itself is not that much but it means there should be other good finds around. Hit the site hard and good luck.

Re: solved!
There's an anchor stamped on the end of it. What does that mean?
