    Bullet info

    We have found bullets in AZ and MA which look alike. These are longer than those I've seen form the civil war, but I don't know. Any info would be appreciated! Thanks! Sjb and son

    That is a 500 grain bullet from the 45-70 cartridge. Standard issue for the trapdoor Springfield rifle from about 1882 until the end of use of the trapdoors. A 405 grain bullet was used earlier,but the 500 grain bullet was introduced for its longer range and improved penetration.

    Junkdigger was faster with the trigger than I was.

    I agree.... 45/70 500grns
    Garrett 2500 Pro, Cobra Beach Magnet, Bullseye 140mm, and a Magnet on a stick.
