    Lead Whatsits...Octagonal buckle whatsit?

Got a couple pictures for you experts to help me with. Found these items today during a relic hunt. I've found civil war relics(bullets, buttons etc...) in this field along with old coins, but these I'm not sure about. First shot is of 5 pieces of lead...At least I think its lead. They're all about the size of a penny/nickel, but are about 1/4" thick. Second photo is of the one stamped AD-0. Looks like AD-0 on one side and S!RY on the other. Anyone seen anything like this before? I'm stumped. Then lastly is the octagonal buckle maybe? Looks like folded over hooks on the back side possible allowing a belt/strap to pass through at one time. What do the experts think? I appreciate the help!

    Happy Hunting!

Nice collection of lead bag seals...

They would have been pressed together sealing the string or wire holding product bags closed.

    No idea on the buckle.

Yes, they are lead seals. As far as the buckle is concerned, I think it's a rosette instead of a buckle. Nice finds, Breezie

The seals look like electrical seals, the last picture is a belt clasp, proberbly from the early 1900s

RY is an abbreviation for RailwaY. They are railroad bag or bale seals.

What would have been sealed in railroad bags or bale seals? This is new to me. I appreciate the ID on the RY stamp.

Found a map which shows that it was the Seaboard & Roanoake Railway. Map is from the 1860's. Any idea what the AD-0 means?

Actually the Railroad Lead Seals were used to seal railroad cars to prevent tampering. Check out this post:

Does anyone have a pic of a bale seal on a sack? I'm having trouble picturing how it "seals" or stays on...
