Same unknown item a friend found last week.

A friend found the same exact thing on one side of town and I found this one today on the other end of town. I believe it's brass. Maybe it holds wires in place? Just curious now that two have shown up.

The skull is something I found today a little ways from a cemetary, just thought it was eery!

Bev, I am not inclined to believe it's for wiring, the backside has a sharp edge up top, wouldn't make a good contact when fastened,IMO. Coolskull, three weeks late though! God Bless HH Chris

I was kind of thinking that wire or cable fit in the groove then it was bent over it but it's actually too hard to bend back and forth.

Skull was a strange find and a good laugh!

Could have been used for cable now,a hanger of sorts.

I have found similar items under tele/lectric poles and wires. Were poles or wires close by the ones found?

One was in the middle of an old park, nothing near by like poles or wires. The other was in a back yard that had a lot of landfill material, it was used as a dumpsite decades ago. It's my dad's backyard- he lost a ring there years back but so much trash under the surface I'm not optimistic.

I think tat2guy is right. It is part of a picturing hanger used with a picture rail. It would attach to the wire and the loop would hang on the rail hook.
