Re: Metal Arrowhead
It looks like some CW soldier had too much camp time on his hands. Neat find, Breezie
Every time I watch Gone With The Wind, I think we're gonna win this time!

Yea,I dont think it is.It is too thick,no practical way to lash it to a shaft and I have never seen a lead arrowhead

Thanks, I didn't think it would have been used as a projectile point. I was wondering if maybe it was made as like a trinket?

So much treasure and so little time!
Re: Metal Arrowhead
I agree with Breezie.
It is Civil War camp lead intentionally melted into the shape that you found it in. Cool find!

Re: Metal Arrowhead
That would be a heck of a trinket--worn as a pendant it would be a "tooth chipper" as my wife would say. It appears to be a one sided mold casting. I have done similar things with plaster and clam shells, etc. Perhaps a sand casting, to use trade terms.

K,
Nothing makes it Civil War, but pouring & carving intentional shapes like this was most popular during the CW, and it reminded me of similar 'camp art.' The lack of white patina could be a sign of lack of age or age in a wet location. Breezie
