    Sterling crown pin of some sort. 4 posts still intact to attach to hat or lapel maybe

    That is definitely the Prussian Empire (German) crown. Note the five ribs, with raised dots in the ribs, and the "horizontal long diamonds" on the headband. Here's a photo showing a World War One era German army uniform button. it is clearly the same crown as Zmermarine's, except for having a tiny cross on its top.

    I bought some sterling silver from an older man and this was one of the pieces.
