Yea I didn't want to blow his mind,but you think thats bad look at this site they call them Roman miiltary baldric rosette mount with single integral fixing

Here is what I feel good about....
#1-It would date early say late 17th early 18th century
#2- It is what is considered a mount over in the UK from that time frame
#3-Almost any one I see like it back from that period they try & tie in to harness straps or horse tack.
