This was found by a friend in Virginia. She asked me to post a photo of it here and ask if anyone might know what it is. I have requested more info on the size and weight, and will post it when I know it. In the meantime, here is the photo.

How do you find Gold coins? Reply: 'By finding lots of Silver ones..'
A real man thinks about detecting every 6 seconds
The medallion measures 1 and 3/8 inches in diameter. To make matters more interesting, a second medallion was found by her friend this weekend in the same field. The details are identical, but the second one found is 7/8 inches in diameter.
its a arabic coin or copy of a arabic coin for a belly dancers outfit or for jewelry type wear
might have been a old gypsy type travelling fair type of event there long ago in the spot --where the local men folks would pay a dime or quarter to go into a tent to see the hoochee cootche dancer do her thing - (basically it was a strip tease show) -- see if you find other carny type items there.
