trying to find some info on this, it says lectco on the inside of bottom, looks to be 30s ,,40s maby. works excellent throes off crazy heat. all original. any value here? thanks for any help. one pic shows the element glowing.

It appears to be an early space heater. I'd guess late 1950s or early 60s? Monty

( the cord is more like rubber, i think the end has been replaced. )

I'd guess a space heater from the late 30's. The plug and cord do not look original; perhaps replaced in the 60's.
The open face would give the Underwriter's Laboratories people a heart attack!

Just the type of apparatus that undoubtedly was the cause of many houses to burn down.
Perhaps it would be safe with an upgrade of the plug and cord; something that is at least 12 gauge wire.

I would personally never use it, mostly 'cause I'm scared of uncontrolled fire.

(wish we still made stuff) i found it about 5 yrs ago in the trash saw one kinda similar on ebay it was made in germany and they wanted 320 bucks for it.

I'm not sure that you can get an exact replacement with the wire and all, but Grainger might have something that would work.

I remember at the missle base that I was stationed at in Germany in the 70's, there were areas we weren't allowed to have "flame producing devices." We could still smoke, but we had to light our cigarettes on something similar with a coiled wire that would get red hot. It screwed into a light socket.

my grandfather had one of these in his house in Limon, Colo. he had it in the bedroom near his bed . One night there was a loud noise outside. he jumped up to see what it was. he was outside for 10-15 minutes looking. Turns out it was a family of racoons tearing through the metal trash bins and knocking them against the house. when he went back inside it smelled like a burnt sheep. Smoke all through the house. and a gad awful stench. His wool blanket was smouldering on the heater. when he went to pull it off the heater it burst into flame. he knocked the heater over, burning the carpet and his hand as he grabbed it and the now-flaming blanket Well, he threw the blanket outside and the heater right after it. i used to see the burn marks on the carpet when i visited him.

( just so you guys know, it is only used while me or my wife are present and when its not being used its unplugged, i dont like fire either so we are safe with it.)
