    (SOLVED) Part of a clock

    Found in a late 1800's area, it's a little bigger than a quarter, brass.

    Looks like the center bar is twisted 1/4 turn. If it was straightened, might be a top.

    Just a wild guess on my part but the first thing I thought of was a "Gyroscope" ... could this be part of one?

    This is a gyre from an old clock, the one onto which a spiral spring is attached.
    The central bar is in deed twisted that is why the most used design is the one with three instead of, like on your find, two spokes.

    I live in a state of rules where I am not permitted to live on my own country land because my home is not 130 MPH rated! I can only visit it from time to time and pay the fines.  I feel so safe with Big Government protecting me. In some states its illegal to collect rainwater.
