Any Ideas on a very odd Iron piece.....???????

I dug this Iron piece...3 1/2 in. Long....3/8th in at the thickest point of the shaft in a Civil War Camp. It was about 10-11 inches deep in the ground. Appears that the Leg piece collasped and fit into a small notch on the shank.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated...Merry Christmas to all...!!!

    Thanks....Dan

After looking at it a little closer, Dan, I think I can see a little design onit. It believe it is a meat or serving fork with a rest , similar to this one:
