    An Interesting Curiosity

Hello, does anyone have any idea what this item might be? it was found in an area thats producing great middle 18th to early 19th century artifacts with no modern trash at all.It seems to be a virginal site and I'm looking forward to hitting it again in the spring.this item has me puzzled.it appeard to be brass, and looks like it may have screwed onto something as there are threads in the larger side of the opening in the center.

I live in a state of rules where I am not permitted to live on my own country land because my home is not 130 MPH rated! I can only visit it from time to time and pay the fines.  I feel so safe with Big Government protecting me. In some states its illegal to collect rainwater.
